With a new album on the horizons, Gary Allan brings his show with fresh sounds and greatest hits to his fans in Grand Rapids.
Gary Allan delivers an energy filled show to a nearly sold out crowd Saturday night inside 20 Monroe Live, Grand Rapids’ newest musical venue for live music and events.
With a distinguished voice that sets him apart from other male artists, Gary entertains the crowd with an arsenal of greatest hits that span his career lasting the past 21 years. Gary has already accumulated 26 singles which have sprouted 4 #1 hits inside a collection of nine studio albums. Starting with his debut single “Her Man” from 1996 to his most current single “Do You Wish It Was Me,” Gary keeps those in attendance on their feet dancing and singing along for the whole show that consists of a 22 song set list.
The crowd erupts in cheers as Gary takes the stage strapped with a guitar. He begins his show with a snippet of a song “Tough All Over” from his 2005 album of the same name. At the conclusion Gary causes a commotion with the female crowd as he removes his guitar and leather jacket to show off his tattoo’d arms under a grey v-necked t-shirt.
As the show continues on, Gary doesn’t speak much in between songs as he just gets down to business and gives his fans what they came and paid for. Gary performs his #1 hit songs “Man To Man,” “Tough Little Boys,” “Nothing On But The Radio” and “Every Storm (Runs Out Of Rain).” Gary also included his top hits like “Watching Airplanes” and “Life Ain’t Always Beautiful.”
Gary adds “Best I Ever Had,” a cover by Verticle Horizon and his Dwight Yoakam cover “Fast As You” to his setlist as it seems to fit well with his graspy voice and old country sound with a bluesy rock mix.
As part of his show this evening, Gary includes songs from his upcoming studio album that is scheduled for a late 2017 – early 2018 release. He has already released it’s debut single “Do You Wish It Was Me,” that is also his current. The follow up release and Gary’s favorite song “Mess Me Up” on the new album is due to hit radio airplay on May 29th.
The show concludes with thunderous cheers and applause as Gary sings his favorite whiskey drinking song “Drinkin’ Dark Whiskey” while being joined on stage by Lucy, his nine year old Goldendoodle (Golden Retriever/Poodle mix).
Also appearing on stage earlier in the evening is Olivia Lane, an up and comer who originally hails from Houston, Texas. Opening the night’s show, Olivia arrives on stage with an energetic fire under her as she dances and twirls around while greeting the crowd. While performing new songs that she has written, Olivia also includes a melody of cover hits that continued to arouse the crowd for the evening’s headliner.
Along with a self-titled debut ep and deluxe version, Olivia is currently writing songs for an upcoming album.
From the crowd’s reaction of tonight’s performance, Olivia Lane is someone you will be seeing and hearing more of as her career is set to explode and send her from an opening act to a future headliner.
